Leading Breastfeeding Educator and

Denville, NJ - July 31, 2010 - Almost 80% of new
mothers initiate breastfeeding their newborn babies
in the hospital, yet only 13% reach 6 months of
exclusive breastfeeding – the minimum recommendation from the American
Academy of Pediatrics. According to a recent study published in the journal
of Pediatrics, a Harvard Medical School Professor and Doctor calculate that
the United States incurs $13 billion in excess costs annually and suffers 911
preventable deaths per year because our breastfeeding rates fall far below
medical recommendations.
